HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JUDY & LEVI
Four years ago in 2007 on this very day at this very minute (2:30pm), I got the idea for My Guardian Grandpa. Hooray!
-
This one goes out to anyone who noticed that Levi wasn’t in any of the strips this week. Nice catch. Here’s why.
Another nod to Spider-Man in the last panel.
PS: Happy New Year Twenty | Twelve

Today’s final strip and two earlier failed attempts.

Tuesday’s strip.

This week’s strips are brand new and came about from a conversation with my sisters over Thanksgiving. We tried to one-up each other on who could come up with the most ridiculous/hilarious off-season part time jobs for Santa Claus.
We were just having fun with entertaining ourselves, but my younger sister suggested the ideas would make for good comic strips. So there you go!
-
I just got a phone call from my grandfather asking me why “Grandma is wearing her father’s coat” in today’s comic strip. After a moment’s puzzlement, I figured out what he was alluding to.
I put the buttons on the wrong side of her coat. Ha! Oops.
-
In honor of the final week of “Grandma & Grandpa’s Love Story,” I bring you this video montage, which will hopefully compliment my charming, wholesome, sweet, romantic, visually appealing storyline.
The best is yet to come (another love story of sorts—- which I still consider to be my best work on the comic strip to date—- is on its way for May when Judy, Levi and Marisa head to the prom)

Ugh. The coffee that I’m drinking is strong enough to bench 800 lbs.
Animating all night to candlelight and Christmas music.
-
I was semi-amused to discover that someone thought highly enough of my book to purchase it, not read it and post it for sale on BarnesandNoble.com for a ridiculous mark up.
Instead of purchasing it there, please visit www.NathanJDiPerri.com or the following bookstores:
Eight Cousins in Falmouth, MA
The Book Rack in Arlington, MA
The Rabbit Hole in Fitchburg, MA
Willow Books and Cafe in Acton, MA

Coloring a frame for the cartoon.
In 9 hours, I’ve colorized 33 frames. 20 more to go to finish the 10.2 second shot.
-
By request, here is yesterday’s strip (11.15.11).

To gear up for an afternoon and night of animating for the My Guardian Grandpa cartoon, I went on search for inspiration so extensive that now its time for bed. Rats. Massively inspired though.
Here’s one of the nuggets I found tonight. I’m sure it’ll still be inspirational tomorrow*
*Sour grapes.
Six minutes and 42 seconds on why Glen Keane is one of the greatest animators of our day and why he would be an incredible teacher.
Truly remarkable video.
